Liam Lawson has highlighted his excitement over Racing Bull’s potential this year following a positive start to the new campaign.
Lawson scored a ninth-place result last Sunday at the Japanese Grand Prix, adding to the points he scored across the sprint weekend in China.
It has left the New Zealander in 10th place in the standings after three rounds, ahead of rookie team-mate Arvid Lindblad and Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar.
Having started the year with a strong car, Lawson hopes the squad can continue to impose itself as a serious threat for the point-scoring positions.
When asked if Racing Bulls’ strong early pace gives him optimism over its’ upgrade potential, Lawson told F1: “It definitely does.
“To be honest, a couple of weeks ago in China, we had an unlucky safety car, and we still finished in the points.
“We weren’t really that quick there either in the race.
“It’s very positive when we do get some speeds like we had in Melbourne, to be honest, I think we’re in a great position.
“Right now we’re extracting literally everything we have out of the car and finishing the points.
“So it’s quite positive and exciting.”
Lawson will return to the cockpit in early May for the fourth round of the campaign around the Miami International Autodrome.
