Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard has given an insight into his insane garage, which features multiple F1 cars as well as his first kart.

The Scotsman recently revealed details about his extraordinary private collection of machinery during an appearance on the Cars & Money podcast. Coulthard has proudly retained his very first and final go-karts from 1982 and 1988.

The collection includes multiple cars from across his racing career, including his Formula Ford 1600 from 1989, his Formula 3 challenger from 1991 and his Formula 3000 car from 1992, as well as various F1 cars.

“So my father had this belief system that I would make it through to Formula 1. So he kept my first kart from 1982 and he kept my last kart from ’88,” Coulthard explained.

“My Formula Ford 1600 from ’89, Opel is 1990, Formula 3 ’91. Formula 3000 from ’92, I’ve got the Williams ’95. I’ve got the McLaren ’96. I’ve got three or four of the Red Bulls, I can’t actually quite remember, and a DTM Formula 1 car and then a bunch of memorabilia and stuff like that.”

Coulthard raced in F1 from 1994 until 2008 with Williams, McLaren and Red Bull. Over his career in the championship, he bagged 13 grand prix wins from 246 race starts, 62 podium finishes, 12 pole positions and amassed 535 career points.

Following his retirement from racing, the 55-year-old has moved into broadcasting. He joined the BBC as a pundit in 2008 and was promoted to co-commentator at the end of 2010. In 2016, he left the BBC to join Channel 4.

In addition to broadcasting, he launched a podcast with the late Eddie Jordan in 2023 called Formula For Success, and has since joined Will Buxton, Naomi Schiff and Jolie Sharpe for the Up To Speed podcast.
